Budget Travel 2025: How to Explore the World Without Overspending

Traveling has always sparked a different kind of excitement in my heart. In 2025, I wondered: how do people manage to travel the world on a small budget? And then, I took on the challenge of making my own travel budget-friendly. It was during this time that I arrived at a destination that changed my perspective—Bali, Indonesia.

If you, too, want to enjoy a beautiful place on a low budget, Bali is perfect for you. In this blog, I will share from my personal experience the best way to get to Bali, how to manage transportation there, the must-see places, where to stay, and most importantly—the famous food.

Why Bali for Budget Travel?

Bali is a place where natural beauty, culture, spirituality, food, and adventure all come together. And the best part—all of this is available within a budget! My entire 7-day Bali trip cost almost the same as what it sometimes takes to cover popular hill stations in India.

How to Reach Bali (Transport – Brief & Simple)

I took my flight from Delhi, but you can easily reach Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport from any Indian metro city.

Transportation options (Brief):

  • Flights – Flights from India to Bali are affordable, especially if booked 2–3 months in advance.
  • Airport to Hotel – A taxi or the Grab app (like Uber in Indonesia) is the easiest option.
  • Local Travel in Bali – Renting a scooter is the most budget-friendly and convenient way. Almost every traveler in Bali rides a scooter.

Just know that the easiest and cheapest way to see Bali is by scooter.

Top Famous Spots in Bali – Detailed Descriptions (My Experience Included)

Now let’s talk about the places I went to and genuinely fell in love with.

1. Mount Batur Sunrise Trek

This was the most magical moment of my Bali trip. The pick-up from the hotel was at 2 AM, and the trek started around 4 AM. It took a little effort to reach the top, but when the sun slowly emerged through the clouds, it felt like the entire sky had turned golden. Mount Batur’s beauty looks straight out of a postcard. And the best moment came when the guide heated food for us on the volcanic stones. An experience I will never forget.

2. Nusa Penida Island

If you ask for Bali’s most cinematic island, it is Nusa Penida. I took a one-day island tour where I visited:

  • Kelingking Beach – That T-Rex shaped rock view that everyone sees on Instagram.
  • Broken Beach – A natural arch formed by sea waves.
  • Angel’s Billabong – A natural pool where the water is absolutely crystal clear.

Nusa Penida is a bit adventurous, the roads are slightly raw, but the views are so amazing that every difficulty feels worth it.

3. Ubud Rice Terraces (Tegallalang)

When I first walked into the rice terraces in Ubud, it felt like I was standing inside a green painting. This place is extremely peaceful—a natural beauty that is soothing to the eyes. I also tried the giant swing there. The wind felt so strong that it seemed like I could see all of Ubud flying past me. If you want Instagram-friendly pictures, Ubud is your dream spot.

4. Ulun Danu Beratan Temple

This lake temple is one of Bali’s most iconic and spiritual places. I especially felt a unique sense of peace here—the lake water, the gentle breeze, and the traditional architecture of the temple gave a divine feeling. This is the place in Bali where you should sit for hours and quietly enjoy nature.

5. Seminyak Beach

During my stay in Bali, I used to go to Seminyak beach every evening. The sound of the waves, the colors of the sunset, and the happiness of the people on the beach—all of this makes for a perfect evening. Drinking coconut water while sitting at the beachfront cafés became my favorite daily ritual.

Where to Stay in Bali (Comfort + Budget Friendly)

I personally stayed in both Ubud and Seminyak to enjoy both the cultural vibes and the beach life.

Best Budget Hotels I Found:

  • Champlung Sari Hotel, Ubud
    • Nature vibe, greenery, pool, and traditional Balinese style rooms—everything perfect!
  • THE HAVEN Seminyak
    • Close to the beach, clean rooms, big pool, and affordable price.

Hotels in Bali are quite budget-friendly, and the facilities are also good. You can easily find decent hotels for ₹2000–₹3500 per night.

Must-Try Famous Food in Bali

Food is a hidden treasure of Bali. I am not a big foodie, but after eating the traditional food here, I literally became a fan.

My Favourite Dishes:

  • Nasi Goreng – Indonesia’s most famous dish.
  • Mie Goreng – The tastiest version of noodles.
  • Satay – Grilled chicken skewers with peanut sauce.
  • Fresh Fruit Bowls – Organic bowls are available everywhere in Ubud.

My most favorite place was:

  • Clear Cafe (Ubud) – I had never seen such a peaceful ambiance and delicious healthy food before.

Final Thoughts

Bali taught me that you don’t need a lot of money to travel the world—you just need a little planning and the right destination. Beautiful beaches, greenery, culture, food, and budget-friendly travel options—what could be better than finding everything in one place! If you are also looking for a beautiful destination on a low budget in 2025, Bali should surely be on your list.
