If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my travel journey, it’s that the world’s most beautiful places aren’t always the ones trending on Instagram. Often, the most memorable moments are found in places we’ve never even heard of.
This year, I decided to step away from the crowded spots and venture into those corners where true beauty is hidden—places fewer people visit, but where the heart feels more connection.
This blog is the essence of those experiences—my favourite 6 hidden places where, after visiting, I felt more alive, more peaceful, and more human.
1. Hallstatt-like Village, Slovenia (Lake Bohinj)

Peace, nature, and fewer crowds—just what I was looking for.
When people visit Slovenia, they often only see Lake Bled. But a local taxi driver told me, “If you want to see the real paradise, go to Bohinj.”
And I took his advice.
As soon as I reached Lake Bohinj, I felt the air was different—cleaner, colder, and more soothing.
- Famous Spot: Vogel Cable Car Viewpoint — The view of the entire Lake Bohinj from here looks like it was printed on a postcard.
- Famous Dish to Try: Štruklji — A traditional Slovenian rolled dish. I ate it at a small family restaurant here; the warmth of the home and the fresh flavors are still memorable.
2. Islas Cíes, Spain — Europe’s Secret Caribbean

Living in Spain, I never knew that Caribbean-like beauty was hidden right here!
A day on the Cíes Islands felt like I was cut off from the world—no cars, no crowds, just white sand, blue water, and the sound of silence.
- Famous Spot: Playa de Rodas — It has been called the “World’s Best Beach,” and truly, the title is completely accurate.
- Famous Dish: Pulpo a la Gallega (Octopus Galician Style) — I was hesitant to try octopus for the first time, but its flavor was so smooth and soft that it is now among my favorites.
3. Al Ula, Saudi Arabia — Desert That Tells a Story

Saudi Arabia always felt like just a desert to me… but when I reached Al Ula, I felt like the desert was writing a poem.
This place is so quiet, so magical, that as soon as the sun sets, the entire landscape is bathed in golden light.
- Famous Spot: Hegra — A UNESCO World Heritage site, similar to Petra but with fewer crowds and more mystery.
- Famous Dish: Kabsa — A heartwarming combination of rice, spices, and meat. The warm, local aroma of the Kabsa here reminded me of my childhood home.
4. Siargao, Philippines — Hidden Paradise for Peace Lovers

Many people go to the Philippines, but Siargao is still a hidden gem.
Here, I found a peace that was perhaps one of the most beautiful days of my life.
Sitting by the ocean and listening to the sound of the waves—that is therapy!
- Famous Spot: Sugba Lagoon — A calm lagoon with blue-green water. I went paddle boarding here… and for the first time, I felt like I was truly living.
- Famous Dish: Chicken Adobo — A perfect balance of sour, sweet, and spicy flavours. I ate it at a home-style small café—and that was the best one.
5. Colmar, France — Fairytale Village Most People Miss

If you think fairytales only exist in books, you must visit Colmar.
Colorful half-timbered houses, streets filled with flowers, and small boats floating on the canals… every corner here is photo-perfect.
- Famous Spot: Little Venice — The most beautiful, tranquil, and romantic part of Colmar.
- Famous Dish: Tarte Flambée (Flammekueche) — A thin, pizza-like dish with caramelized onions and cream. It is so light and delicious that you don’t feel guilty after eating it!
6. Banff’s Little Sister: Kananaskis, Canada

Everyone knows Banff in Canada, but many people miss Kananaskis.
For me, this place was even more beautiful than Banff—because the crowds were fewer, and the nature was more abundant. The air, the forests, and the lakes here are nothing less than a meditation retreat.
- Famous Spot: Upper Kananaskis Lake — Crystal clear water and spectacular mountain views.
- Famous Dish: Alberta Beef Burger — I ate the best burger of my life at a small local pub here.
My Personal Takeaway: Why Hidden Places Make Travel Better
These hidden places taught me that:
- The beauty of travel is found in peace, not in the crowd.
- When places aren’t commercialized, the people feel more genuine.
- The food, culture, and memories are all deeper.
- And most importantly—they connect you with yourself, without any noise.
When I returned from these places, I felt lighter, happier, and a little wiser.
